Abstract

Purpose The marketing environment has undergone substantial transformation as organizations increasingly integrate digital technologies, social platforms, data analytics, artificial intelligence, personalized communication, and omnichannel approaches into their marketing activities. This study examines how modern marketing practices influence marketing performance and identifies the mechanisms through which technology-enabled marketing can contribute to organizational outcomes. Particular attention is given to digital marketing, social media marketing, data-driven marketing, personalization, artificial intelligence, content marketing, and customer engagement. Design/Methodology/Approach The study adopts a conceptual and secondary research approach. Relevant academic studies and contemporary research on digital marketing, social media marketing, marketing capabilities, digital marketing innovation, and artificial intelligence in marketing were reviewed and synthesized. The analysis organizes modern marketing practices into major dimensions and examines their expected contribution to marketing performance through customer engagement, brand development, market responsiveness, marketing efficiency, and customer relationship management. Findings The review indicates that modern marketing practices can positively contribute to marketing performance when they are supported by appropriate marketing capabilities, relevant customer data, strategic integration, and continuous performance measurement. Digital channels expand market reach, social media facilitates interaction and relationship development, data-driven marketing improves decision quality, personalization strengthens customer relevance, and artificial intelligence can improve marketing efficiency and communication effectiveness. However, technology adoption alone does not guarantee superior performance. The effectiveness of modern marketing depends on strategic alignment, organizational capabilities, data quality, employee competence, customer trust, and responsible use of technology. Practical Implications Organizations should view modern marketing as an integrated capability rather than as a collection of independent digital tools. Managers should establish measurable objectives, strengthen data and analytical capabilities, develop employee skills, personalize customer experiences responsibly, and continuously evaluate the performance of different marketing channels. Originality/Value The study provides an integrated conceptual view of modern marketing by connecting digital, social, analytical, personalized, and AI-enabled practices with marketing performance. It highlights marketing capability and customer engagement as important mechanisms through which modern marketing practices can create measurable value.
